The Benefits of Blogging About Your Small Business

OK, so you have splashed out on a professional looking website to promote your small business. This will enable people to read about your products and services, so far, so good. My next question is; have you also a blog which prospective clients can read? If you have answered no to this question then this is not so good. In fact you are missing out on a big opportunity and no doubt a number of sales. Your turnover would almost certainly increase if you also had a business blog and in this article I will explain the reasons for this.

Having a website is all well and good but it is basically a number of static pages. You may well be aware of the benefits of adding regular content to your business website however this still does not for go the need for a blog.

A blog is something which you can also have static pages on and should be used in alongside your website. Having just a website or just a blog just is not the same as having both working in conjunction with each other.

You can post content and information to your blog as often as you like, on a daily basis would be most preferential. The visitors to the blog are able to read your posts and can usually see the date that you published them. This will usually lead to visitors returning to the site, some on a daily basis.

All of this enables you to connect with your customer base or potential future clients. You can write about special offers that you currently have available and can delete these offers at any stage. This should, without doubt, lead to additional sales and is also a great way to cut the prices of your products, in an attempt to increase revenue, when sales become a bit slow.

You can also use the blog to link back to your website and as such direct traffic to your main sales pages. The blog should also increase the number of pages that you have within the major search engines and thus should enable more people to read about you small business.

Blogging for Business

One of the first steps of starting an online business is to make your online presence known. One of the best ways is to get your own website. Though this is one of the best ways, it is often much harder than it sounds because of the steps necessary to get the site online. Some of these steps include but are not limited to: purchasing a domain name and a hosting package, writing or paying someone to write the codes, and using a FTP to get the site on-line. This can be very costly and time consuming.

An alternative to all of those steps is setting up a blog. Using a blog is cheaper and less time consuming. There are also many options you can choose from. You can get a free blog from wordpress or blogger or you can use a paid service. You can even use your own hosting service to host your blog. Your blog can be set up in as little as 10 minutes

Once you have your blog set up, it is time to make your first post. The question of what to post often comes up. Start with YOU. Introduce your self and let your readers know who you are and what you are about. Then pick a niche (subject) and write about it. Establish yourself as an expert. Once your post is made, bookmark your blog using a social bookmarking site like digg or only-wire.

After making your first post, the blogging process is much easier. Just make it a point to post to your blog a minimum of twice per week. Make sure you bookmark each post after making them. This will ensure your blog gets indexed immediately. This also helps with search engine optimization (free backlinks).

How to Play Like a Professional Poker Player

Playing like a professional does not happen over night. The first step to playing like a pro is to "become" one. Watching High Stakes poker on the Game Show Network, the World Series on ESPN, or any other highly visualized play is important. You need to see how a professional plays. You need t realize there are going to be times when laying down pocket aces is going to save your stack.

New players get caught up in their whole cards and do not always give credit to what the other players may have. You can by a poker book, but it will really only do as good as how you apply it. You are going to see bad calls while playing in online poker rooms. It is very difficult to not pick up this bad habit, especially when someone catches his or her card. One important fact for playing like a pro is consistency. You do not want to be predictable, but just consistency.

If you have ever watched Gus Hansen, is a very loose, but very aggressive player. What his cards are make no difference really to the way he plays. He plays as if he has excellent cards in any hand he is in. It makes him very difficult to read, since he is always consistent. Daniel Negreanu is a tighter player, but knows what the other person has almost all the time. He plays to know what he is against. If he can figure out what his opponent has, he can determine if it is worth him staying in the hand. This can come at a cost. He will pay to see someone's cards so that he knows what they had. This may be worth it from time to time. If you are unsure of a bluff, if the bet is small, call it and find out. These examples are both opposite ends of the professional spectrum. The common trait is consistency. You need to find out what strength you have in poker, and develop it. Use it, and become successful. If you do not have a skill to hone in on, you end up very unpredictable and you will ultimately lose, and it can cost you.

When playing online, you will see professionals on TV do it as well, keep a notebook. Write down information about other players, and your play. This will help you to review your play when you are in a different state of mind. When you sit on the couch, read through your plays. Determine what you could have done differently. This will allow you to recall this information next time you play, and make the proper decision.
